Gave Bruce a wash last night and decided to de-adventure the rig for a while. Its less noisy on the freeway and I don’t have to worry about people stealing stuff off it. If the bumper wasn’t mangled it would look pretty great i think. Man I need to get that crappy port-installed roof rack off there, it would look so much better and it rattles like crazy.

Looks good - a ‘90? Drove one on a test drive when GF (then, not now) was a Mercedes service writer. MB/Volvo/Toyota dealership.

Man, lately, I’ve been wanting a Cruiser. I like the Taco and all, but I work from home and since the wife also has a reliable new vehicle, I can afford to have something older sit in the driveway, rather than the payments on the Taco. I’m sure I’ll keep it, but the more I look on Craigslist...

Careful, once cruiser fever sets in, its hard to dislodge.

I think that, of all the body styles, that one is the best-looking. And you got an airbag or two with that one, I think - ‘90 did not have those. And, don’t know if you saw it - saw this old man in Tokyo in March:

Thats a nice 60. Yeah I have dual airbags and its pretty safe vehicle generally.

I buddy of mine down in your neck of the woods just put a Gobi on his 5th gen 4runner. Something like that would look pretty good on your rig.

These are no joke one of my favorite machines that burn dead dinosaurs ever created by the hand of man. I think about them all the time and fear that if I ever bought one I wouldn’t ever want to drive anything else. So tell me, is the 10mpg thing true?

That is not only the cleanest Land Cruiser I’ve ever seen, it’s among the cleanest original condition vehicles I’ve ever seen.

Not to drive you mad with FJ80 questions, but I’ve considered the Lexus variant as well, but would probably debadge it if I ever went that route, any pros/cons that stand out especially on the LX? Nicer interior and sound but that’s not always a plus depending on your eventual use. Is there more to break on an LX, i.e.: less reliable?

Here is a handy guide but the TLDR is pretty succinct
Softer spring rates
more sound deadening (ha!)
A less useful center console
A marginally effective subwoofer in its place
Plastic cladding
“superior” leather seating.
Auto Climate (some Toyota’s get this too)
“L” where there would normally be a “T”
I’m always down with more questions...fire away as they come.

Hmmm, makes me believe I might prefer the Toyota version, also I always prefer individual controls over auto climate control on anything but a modern car, just feels right I guess. Thanks a ton for the info, you’re my go-to guy if I come up with any other questions!

FYI - the “auto” climate control is also fully manual (I have it in my 97)
